MORE DETAILS BELOW

More details

A. Effective Communication Workshops

Delivering clear messages

This workshop will look at outward communication, e.g. to prospective and current clients, or other professionals on social media.

Writing short but succinct texts

Here, we will look at the art of reducing the length of your texts while keeping the message: ideal length of sentences, the concept of paragraphs, etc.

B. Professional Correspondence Workshops

Letter and email etiquette

In this workshop, we will attempt to define good practices in professional correspondence, for example addressing people, correct salutations and closes, spacing, titles, etc.

Handling complaints and queries

The aim of this workshop is to look at various ways to respond to people’s more serious issues. Why have they written in that way? What can I do to answer them?

Proofreading and correcting your texts

How can we find ways of polishing our written work? Why is it important to spend time once a text is completed making sure it is perfect?

C. Improve Your Pronunciation Workshops

Perfecting your pronunciation

What is the most effective way to adopt a clearer accent? What mistakes are common but not always identified? There are surprisingly many!

Rhythm, flow and intonation

There is pronunciation, and then there is applying it to full sentences. Here, we will aim to perfect the way we emphasise our points.

Pacing in speeches and presentations

Pronunciation in ordinary conversation is different to that of public speaking. There are certain rules to adhere to, and some important ways that we can plan our monologues in advance.

D. Good Grammar Workshops

Passive vs active

It is often said that we should avoid the passive, but this is not always true. We should not use it everywhere, but it has some very important functions.

The meanings of prepositions

Prepositions are everywhere. But when do we use them? Why do we apologise for something to someone? Why are we sorry about something, or sorry for someone…? What is the reason for the word at?

Verb + _ing v. verb + to_

Why can we like doing something, but we can also like to do it? When do I use the _ing form, and when to_? We will try to put things into perspective.

E. Expanding Your Vocabulary Workshops

Building your wordcount

How can we learn to increase and vary our words? Why does it matter?

Formal v. informal words and phrases

A look at the different reasons why English has so many variations in conveying a message. How to get the tone just right?

Finding the differences in synonyms

What is the difference between words like great, large or big, and why do they still exist if they mean the same thing? Do they, though…?
